Ariel Zarate

Cox’s Bazaar MHPSS working group Suicide Prevention Subgroup

Ariel Zarate is a licensed social worker and MHPSS Specialist experienced in supporting migrants, many of whom are survivors of torture. Her research and clinical practice centers around supporting community-based wellness practices in contexts of displacement and other humanitarian crises. This support focuses on suicide prevention, crisis intervention and the mental health impacts of socio-political engagement. She has supported the development mental health programs in the United States, South Sudan, Kenya and most recently Bangladesh.  

She is currently a Training and Technical Assistance Advisor for programs responding to the crisis at the US’s southern border.
