Associate Professor Ceren Acartürk

Turkey Chief Investigator / Research Uptake Focal Point

Dr. Ceren Acarturk is a clinical psychologist with years of experience in psychological trauma and cross-cultural clinical psychology. Currently, she is an associate professor in the Department of Psychology at Koc University and an executive council member of the Migration Research Center (MiReKoc). Her research centers on the prevention and treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder and other common mental disorders resulting from trauma and adversities. She conducted one of the first randomized controlled trials of EMDR for Syrian refugees in a refugee camp setting, and she has several other projects related to the effectiveness of scalable psychosocial interventions for Syrian refugees, such as the two Horizon 2020 projects- STRENGTHS and RE-DEFINE.
