Dr. Ammar Beetar a Syrian psychiatrist trainer working and practicing currently in humanitarian sector. He graduated from Pakistan / QMC in June 1996 and practiced in a Teaching Hospital for 2 years. He has practiced medicine in 4 different countries (Pakistan, K.S.A, Syria and Turkey) including working in K.S.A at Dr Suliman Fakeeh Hospital in Jeddah in different positions including administrative, clinical as a resident in neuropsychiatry department and in total quality management. He has been in Turkey since August 2015 and was elected to volunteer on behalf of SBF/ HRO over the past 6 years (until March 2021) as a Co lead of the MHPSS TWG for North West Syria under the lead of WHO representative. He has also worked as a coordinator, advisor, trainer, clinical supervisor in MHPSS and Protection and a psychiatrist for number of LNGOs as well as WHO. Before that he worked as MHPSS Expert for UNHCR Damascus office and as a psychiatry resident till Sep. 2011 then as a psychiatrist in government, private sector and humanitarian sector in the period from 2007 until 2015.
